4.8. Increasingly connected humans

When almost 3 billion people are connected to one network, important consequences follow.86 In Box 4.2 we summarize much of what humans do when they are connected. No doubt they do much else, but we have isolated the uses that have a bearing on the work of the professions. Many of these categories overlap with one another. Our purpose here is to give a sense of what happens online, and not present a watertight taxonomy.
